Chernobyl: Inside the Meltdown

On April 26, 1986, a routine safety test at reactor number four of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant spiralled into the worst nuclear disaster in history. A devastating explosion and the fire that followed released radiation levels more than 400 times greater than those from the Hiroshima bomb. The catastrophe quickly became global, as a radioactive cloud drifted across Europe and eventually circled the planet. Marking the 40th anniversary of the disaster, this landmark series recounts the full story.
