John Moratiel
A BAFTA, RTS and Emmy award winning and nominated Editor, John has a consistent track record of editing high profile projects including ‘Occupied’ and ‘Panorama. Sex for Work: The True Cost of our Tea’ for the BBC, Netflix’s ‘Dance 100’ and ‘22 Kids and counting’ for C5. His aim has been to work in every area of filmmaking from observational documentaries to wildlife, science, current affairs, food, property and drama.
John feels an editor is primarily a storyteller, who can take skills learnt from one project or genre, straight to another. Because of his experience, John has worked with a wide variety of directors, producers and edit producers, helping all of them to make the best possible show. John loves a collaboration and brings his inspiring character and sense of humour to all he works with.
Frequently recognised for his work, recent awards include; ‘The Monkey Haters’ for the BBC, which was a winner of the Prix Europa Award ‘Investigation of the year 2023’. In the sae year; ‘Occupied’ and ‘Panorama. Sex for Work: The True Cost of our Tea’ were also nominated for Best Current Affairs Programme at the Broadcast Digital Awards.
