Margarida Cartaxo
Margarida (“Mags”) is a talented documentary Editor with a passion for feature docs, investigative storytelling, true crime and archive. A Grierson DocLab alumna, she has built her experience across major streamer productions before establishing herself as an Editor in her own right.
Her breakthrough came with Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger, her first feature documentary Editor credit, which earned her nominations for Best Editing at the 2024 British Independent Film Awards and Best Edited British Documentary or Non-Fiction Programme at the 2025 BFE Cut Above Awards. She followed this with StudioCanal feature documentary Becoming Hitchcock: The Legacy of Blackmail.
Highly organised, diligent and technically confident, Mags is particularly drawn to investigative subjects and archive-rich films, where her attention to detail and storytelling instincts come to the fore.

Directed by David Hinton and narrated & produced by Martin Scorsese, Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger explores the life, work and enduring influence of filmmakers Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, whose celebrated partnership helped shape British cinema.
The documentary had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2024, followed by a screening at Hot Docs International Film Festival in Canada.
Becoming Hitchcock: The Legacy of Blackmail
Directed by Laurent Bouzereau, Becoming Hitchcock: The Legacy of Blackmail explores Alfred Hitchcock’s formative years in British cinema during the 1920s and 1930s, using archive material and film extracts to trace the development of his distinctive filmmaking style. The documentary focuses particularly on Blackmail, one of Britain’s earliest sound films and a pivotal work in Hitchcock’s career.
This documentary was screened at the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon, France, in 2024.
