
Rob Finlay
Rob is an award-winning freelance editor and filmmaker through and through, with skills in editing, shooting, directing and producing. Enlisting the support of TV personality Tony Robinson, he produced ‘Recycling Land’, an animated educational film that won the Creative East Awards ‘Best Non-Broadcast Award’ 2007.
Brands Rob has previously worked for include Puma, McDonald’s, ESCADA, Rattling Stick, Wickes, IGN, Dixons Carphone, National Trust, KPMG, Spotlight, NHS, Warner Bros. Studios, BBC Studio Works, Elstree Studios, The Big Shot, and Working Title Films.
In 2011, Rob set up a business offering web, social, and video services to a broad range of clients based out of the world-famous Elstree Studios. He developed a global film and animation competition for children and young people called ‘A Sense Of…’. Partners included Creative England, Spotlight, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, Elstree Studios, and Royal Opera House Bridge. The project enabled hundreds of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to get a foot on the film industry ladder. In 2015 the project won a Hertfordshire Business Award, and a Gold trophy at the Marcom Awards.
He loves to take clients on a journey of discovery. Rob is very communicative and always seeks to find out what it is that will resonate with a particular audience. His experience is broad having edited shorts; music videos, conference overviews, promos, and live webcasts.

Gristwood and Toms Recruitment
Gristwood and Toms needed content to help them stand out in a tough recruitment market.
Rob proposed a full digital revamp, including the website, social media, and job postings. Collaborating with a web developer, he redesigned the recruitment landing page, optimized social channels, and provided high-quality stills to create a cohesive, branded online presence for a seamless applicant experience.
Rob also produced, directed, and edited a 2-minute main video, along with short social clips designed to drive traffic to the website. Featuring intimate staff interviews blended with high-end camera and drone footage, the videos create an engaging and authentic portrayal of the company.

INFORMED Certification
Informed are the leading global assurance program for certifying supplements. They wanted to produce a series of promo video content that explained this clearly to their audience of athletes, sports organisations, and supplement brands worldwide.
Rob produced, directed and edited a main film and eleven social videos, as well as preparing a bank of nearly two hours of colour graded b-roll footage for future use. The films are now being used online to promote the business globally
Safefood 360
Rob produced, directed and edited a case study video campaign for Safefood 360°, an integrated food safety and supplier QM software solution. And their client Butternut Box, a subscription-based provider of certified fresh dog food.
Both the client and Butternut Box were delighted with the films which showcase their respective businesses and working relationship. Safefood 360° saw an uptick of 20% in their YouTube Channel followers. And the videos’ success led onto a series of further case study films around the world
BRCGS 25 years
Since its formation in 1996, BRCGS has transformed into a leading global brand and consumer protection scheme recognised by thousands of customers worldwide. The business wanted to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a video. Rob produced and directed an animated film for the brand’s 25 year milestone. Working alongside the client to develop a script and editing the final piece, he also led re-versioning of the film which went on to be released globally in 5 languages.

LG Challenge | Cherwell
Created in 2009, the Local Government Challenge brings together talented local government officers to compete in a series of real-life challenges around the country, over a six-month period. The LGA needed a film maker to document the 2023 challenge which consisted of five 2-day challenges and their annual conference. Rob applied for the tender and won a 3-year contract.
“The LGA’s Leadership team appointed Rob to film the LG Challenge 2023 and 2024 programme. This involved 7 main films (per year) as well as assets for social media. These were created to a very high standard and Rob’s advice and creativity throughout the filming process was invaluable to creating a set of films that conveyed the programme perfectly. Rob has a sensitive approach to diversity and equality, and ensured the films met accessibility requirements.”
