Zan Barberton
Zan is a director, editor and journalist with a love of documentary.
Zan is a skilled storyteller with experience cutting a wide range of formats. She won “Best Editing” and “Best Documentary” at Glasgow International Film Festival for her directorial debut “Child of Bethlehem”. She also cut the multi award-winning “Welcome to Darfur” which was selected for Toronto Film Festival. Recent highlights include working on the acclaimed “Lockerbie – The Unheard Voices” and “The Art That Made Us”.
Zan has worked with award-winning documentary makers such as Marilyn Gaunt, Roger Graef and Nick O’Dwyer.
At ITV’s “The Lab” she devised, cut and directed the series “Booze Britain” developing an unexpected talent for scripting blue light shows. She also worked with the company that produced much of Channel 4 News’s coverage of the Iraq war and its aftermath. As a producer/director, Zan takes on significant editing responsibilities for projects encompassing a range of genres that include health and science documentaries, as well as dramas.

Oxfam Budget Day
A short film and stunt for Oxfam on budget day. The delightful spectacle of 200 George Osbornes converging on Parliament. Zan and her team hired a giant crane for the aerial shots but there was a bit of a bunfight with the press photographers to get onto it!
Baby Buddy App
200 short films for innovative free healthcare educational app “Baby Buddy” following teen mums and showing good parenting skills. Zan and her team also made professional-led films and promos. Stakeholders include the Department of Health and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
