True Crime Awards 2025

We’re excited to share that two True Crime series crafted by our editors have been shortlisted in the On Screen category at the 2025 True Crime Awards, taking place on Thursday 5th June.

True Crime continues to captivate audiences, with its reach expanding across documentaries, podcasts, books, and dramas. The genre’s explosive growth speaks to our collective curiosity—and the skill it takes to tell these stories well.

Now in its third year, the True Crime Awards shines a spotlight on the craft behind the content – recognising the research, precision, and creativity it takes to bring real-life stories to screen in compelling and respectful ways.

With so much brilliant work out there, we’re proud that the work of our editors is being recognised amongst the best in the industry.

The Hunt for The Chameleon Killer

Shortlisted for; Outstanding three or more part Docu-series

Produced by Impossible Factual for AMC / ITV Global

Editors on this 3 part series:  Mairin O’Faolain, BFE (eps 1 & 3) and Pietro Occhiuzzi (ep 2).

Exploring all the crimes of Elaine Parent, The Hunt for the Chameleon Killer uncovers every potential victim and determines whether law enforcement is correct in their belief that she was a serial killer. It shows how Parent claimed an interest in numerology, and that she could predict the future with the help of key numbers, to get her victims to divulge their personal details, which she then used to steal their identities. Ultimately, The Hunt for the Chameleon Killer answers the key questions at the very heart of the story: Who was Elaine Parent? And what drove her to commit these crimes?

Pietro gave us a peek behind the scenes editing on this gripping series;

“I worked on Ep  2 of this amazing and incredibly thrilling true crime story.  Squeezing 15 years of a con person traveling across different countries within 45 minutes was the main challenge. Storytelling was a key factor in this project, and the style of cutting had to let the viewer sink into the story trying to connect the dots while being engaged and intrigued by it. Working with drama reconstruction footage allowed me to craft a powerful and intense story.  Working with the Impossible Factual team has been fundamental to this project to create a fascinating and clear journey into the true story behind The Chameleon Killer.”

From ruthless gang leaders to notorious serial offenders, this gripping series explores the minds, motives, and monstrous acts of those considered too dangerous to ever walk free. Featuring expert analysis, chilling reconstructions, and exclusive insights from those who knew them best, this is true crime at its most intense.
