Ashley Cain: Into The Danger Zone

Dragomir Bajalica edited 2 of the films in this compelling new 6 part BBC3 series launching on 1st April.
Ashley Cain discovers the lengths some people will go to to survive the world’s toughest neighbourhoods.

This brand new six part series from True North in association with House of Panthera for BBC Three and iPlayer, sees former footballer Ashley Cain visits some of the world’s most dangerous cities to explore the issues that affect young men born into a life that exists on the fringes of society.

Dragomir Bajalica shared his thoughts after editing the episodes in Sweden and Colombia…

“I really enjoyed working on this series, not only because I was doing it with the SP and EP I know so well, but also because I genuinely enjoyed watching the rushes.

Ashley connects effortlessly with these troubled young men and women, quickly establishing a close rapport with them, regardless of their backgrounds. It was as if language was never a barrier—communication was achieved through something intangible, something in between. I believe I witnessed and edited the rise of one of the most interesting presenting stars of our time.”

From mercenaries in Marseilles to the gangs within a Philippine prison and poachers in South Africa, Ashley wants to know what it takes to survive in these environments and ask himself – what would he do in their shoes?

In each episode, Ashley has to earn the trust of the men he meets as he immerses himself as an impartial observer in their worlds. Once inside, he discovers what life is like in the inner circle of men whose moral lines are blurred as they fight for survival.
