Margarida Cartaxo
Margarida (“Mags”) is an upbeat and confident Editor.
She began her career as an Edit Assistant at Argonon Post, working across their slate of documentary programming. Her talent and dedication earned her a coveted place on The Grierson Trust’s renowned DocLab In Focus: Editing. Following this, Mags secured a professional placement as Assistant Editor on the Netflix documentary Running With the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee, progressing to Junior Editor on The Devil on Trial.
Not only does she have great storytelling ability and creative flair, Mags is highly organised, diligent, and has an impressive command of Avid, often sharing tips and tricks she’s learned along the way. She’s particularly passionate about investigative projects and true crime, finding joy in exploring their layers of storytelling, trauma, and resolution. And is also drawn to films with rich archival content, where her meticulous nature shines.
In 2024, Mags achieved her first credit as Editor on the documentary Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger, which premiered at the Berlinale Special Program 74th Edition. Her exceptional work on this film also sees her nominated in the 2025 British Film Editors’ Cut Above Awards, for Best Edited British Documentary or Non-Fiction Programme – an incredible achievement!
